Trend of the season: Crosses

I'm sure by now we have all seen the new cross trend. Worn on clothing such as shirts, dresses, jackets, I have even seen jeans with them. Worn on jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, and I have even seen big rings with them.
This religious emblem has been turned into a fashion statement. Personally I am in love with this trend, but does it bring up some debate as to whether or not people should be wearing clothing with crosses on them if they are not religious? What do the religious think about it?
Well I don't want to get too personal, but I will say that it's trendy, and the trendy will do what the trendy will do.

This one is my favorite!

lather me in leather

Gaga has just done a photo shoot in Arizona with the facebook tweet of "Days off in the AZ Desert: Cactus fashion + Tequila. Can't make me take off my leather, I would rather faint."

Gotta love her dedication!

Eclectic finds

Mmk so I know the whole vintage sequin trend thing has been back for a little bit now, but I just have to write about it. I'm sorry but I can't resist, and I'm sure you won't mind some tips on how to wear these crazy eclectic "i throw up sequins" clothing items right?

They may be a bit heavy to wear and they may be a little hard to wash, but looking cute in these pieces is absolutely worth it. And there's more positives then negatives. One, they seem to be at every vintage shop and thrift store so their easy to find and their cheap. Two, they can go with any outfit so there is no need to worry about how to make it work for you. And three, their not just for day or night; depending on how you wear them they can work for either.

So what's my dream outfit with one of these sequined babies? I suggest a multi-colored sequined shirt (tip: wear a thin tank underneath so the shirt doesn't itch you), make sure the shirt covers your butt so you can wear it with some black shiny leggings and add some high heals and you are set for the day and/or night.

Still can't envision it? Here:

[ Striped sequined sweater from the 80’s. $125 from C.Madeline’s,Silver sequined cardigan from the 60’s. $375 from C.Madelin’s, Purple sequined shrug from the 40’s made in France. $699 from 1stdibs.com,Black sequined tank top with fringe at the bottom. $425 from 1stdibs.com]

Hello fashionable pajamas!

Looks to me that in 2011 miu miu has a collection coming for us that screams "I miss my childhood pajama prints!" Titled resort 2011, this collection is however not inspired by childhood pajamas, but instead the exact opposite. Miuccia Prada was thinking lingerie shapes and fabrics like satin and sable.

My first guess about where the inspiration came from may have been a little wrong (whoops, my mistake!), but one thing I'm positive on is that there are definitely bright colors involved and I'm loving every piece!

Here are some photos from miumiu.com:

Idea of the week

We all know denim and clogs are back in, but let's go all out with this idea. Lets try putting two denim pieces in one outfit, like in the 80's and 90's. So here's my idea: Clogs + double denim = a new love. Now don't be scared, I promise this 90's trend is back without being so treacherous.
So anyway, I'm thinking dark acid wash high wasted denim mini skirt with light denim jacket over a black shirt, all with a pair of black clogs to top it off and some red lipstick. Or maybe some denim boyfriend jeans with a sleeveless denim jacket over a cute shirt and some clogs. There's many tricks and combinations to make this trend work for you.
Bonus tip: No accessories needed; Its already so simply cute and bad ass at the same time.

Food for thought: Remember thinking back on the past and hating your mother for all that denim she threw on you? Well here's your chance to make it up to her, next time she see's you wearing all that denim, make her feel good by telling her the idea came from her.

Oh and p.s. to all this, if you really want to stand out, put on some floral denim or some patches.

Make that art pop

Designer, Holly Fulton has a new line this summer season. To me this line screams "Yes I live in new york and I'll wear new york too". These pieces are more then just art, their architecture on clothing. Absolutely impeccable.
Decorated with bright colors and an array of architectural art deco designs, I can just see myself walking around NY and blending in perfectly with my patent leather and wool mini dress from Holly Fulton. Yes please, take me to the Empire State Building and show my dress around town.

Food for thought: If Holly Fulton, one of the newest and youngest designers (as of 2009) can design these amazing pieces of art, then I think I should be able to wear them as one of the newest and youngest fashion bloggers (as of 2010). Who seconds me?
